Shahada
To enter the fold of Islam, all one needs to do is pronounce the testimony of faith (shahadah) with sincere conviction, fully aware of its meaning. The shahadah is the first and most important of the five pillars of Islam and consists of two parts:
- Ashhadu ana laailaaha illallaah: This means I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah; I worship Him alone without associating any partners with Him in prayer.
- Wa ash hadu anna Muhammad al Rasool-Allah: This means And I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah whom he has sent to all mankind.
The moment a person embraces Islam is doubtless the most significant period in their life. It signifies a rebirth through which they have come to understand better the actual reason behind our existence in this life. After pronouncing the testimony of faith, it is recommended for a new Muslim to take a bath (ghusl), washing their entire body with water.
Please feel free to book a time with one of our imams for any questions you may have and visit Rahmah Center for a tour and pick up a shahada package with books on practicing Islam from the Admin office.
